2007/2008 Rules and Regulations

1.Stallion owners must be a member of SAHR in order to nominate a stallion.  Stallions must also be purebred Arabian.  Mare owners does not need to be a member to purchase a breeding and to show the resulting foal in the Jackpot Futurity.  Stallion Services bought are to be used on PUREBRED ARABIAN MARES ONLY.

2.Jackpot Futurity is a separate futurity program from all other futurity program.

3.Only registered SAHR and SAHR Breeding Stock weanlings are eligible to be shown in the competition.  All entries must have a copy of the original registration certificate before the start of the show or winnings will be forfeited.  Nominations may only be made by owner or lessee of record and payouts will go to same.

4.The services donated by the stallion owners will be auctioned off at ½ of the stallion's regular advertised service fee, with a minimum bid of 300.00.  Where private treaty is advertised for a stallion's service fee, $300.00 will be the minimum bid.  Bids will open December 1st. 2006 and be conducted via the SAHR website.  Bids are made via online form.  Auction ends 11 pm CST, March 1, 2007.

5. Any unsold services will be in a separate "Buy It Now" auction at the minimum bid until June 1, 2006.  All stallion service fees must be paid in full.  Should the ppurchaser default on the payment, the service will be made available to the next highest bidder or become reavailable for purchase.  All purchasers of breedings will be required to sign a purchase agreement.

6.Anyone selling a mare that is bred by a stallion in which the stallion service was purchased through the Jackpot Futurity may do so and the resulting foal will still be eligible for the Jackpot Futurity as long as the ownership and membership requirements are met.  Notification of this sale must be submitted in writing by both parties concerned to the Jackpot Futurity Chairperson

7.Each stallion owner whose donated stallion service sells through the auction is automatically eligible to show 1 foal registered in his/he name in the Jackpot Futurity, with the following exceptions:  In the event that the purchase price of a breeding goes into default, due to bad check, etc., the breeding becomes available for resale.  If the defaulted breeding does not resell by June 1st, the stallion owner shall have until June 15 to purchase the breeding themselves with two options.  The first option is to pay half the price the breeding was sold at, ¼ the normal stud fee, thereby enabling them to show 1 foal in the Jackpot Futurity.  The second option is to purchase the breeding by paying the total amount defaulted, ½ the normal stud fee, thereby enabling them to show 2 foals in the Jackpot Futurity.  If he/she chooses not to purchase the breeding by either of these options, he/she chooses not to purchase the breeding by either of these options, he/she will be ineligible to show a foal in the Jackpot Futurity.

8. Stallion owners will have the right to hold over a breeding for the following year, see rule no. 10

9.Nomination applications for the mares bred by a purchased stallion service MUST be sent to the Jackpot Futurity Chairperson and postmarked by December 31st of the year bred.  A late fee of $50.00 will be assessed to all nominations postmarked after the December 31st deadline.  No nominations will be accepted after February 15th.  Weanling nomination/entry forms for eligible weanlings must be received by the Jackpot Futurity Chairperson by August 1st of the year of competition.  A late fee of $50.00 will be assessed to all nominations postmarked after the August 1st deadline.  No nominations will be accepted after September 1st.

10.  If a mare should not produce a live, viable, normal foal (veterinarian verification in writing required) the first year, a mare will be given a return service the second year provided there was a reasonable attempt to breed the mare.  Example:  mare was presented to the stallion owner for breeding or at least one cover was obtained.  In the case of death or should the mare prove to be unbreedable, a substitute mare will be accepted.  ½ of the stallion service fee from the auction will be moved with the foal to the year of eligibility.  Return service the 2nd year only.  The breeding may be sold if the mare dies and a substitute mare is not available.  The breeding may be sold for the same amount of less than the original purchase price.

11.  If due to extenuating circumstances concerning the return stallion service or death of a stallion, a substitute stallion service may be offered by stallion owner and approved by mare owner,  or the fee will be refunded upon written notification, pending SAHR approval.

12.  Neither the Jackpot Futurity or SAHR will intervene between the purchaser of the stallion service and the stallion owner.  All contracts, arrangements, negotiations and mare care that may arise in the service of any mare will be strictly between the mare owner and the stallion owner.

13.  The auction proceeds will be divided proportionately as per number of entries in each category :  Filly or Colt

14. Judging will be via video entry.  Demonstration video will be provided to all owners of nominated mares by April 1.  Demonstration video/DVD will show proper procedure required to show in class, and times required for judgment viewing.  Videos of foal entries will be due back to Jackpot Futurity Chairperson by September  1.    Two full side pictures of right and left sides of entered foal will be required with entry by September 1. Videos will be numbered and sent to the judge so no bias or politics can play into the Futurity and the judging will be completely on the horses conformation.

15.  Judge to be announced

16. Futurity Chair will submit videos to  Judge by September  15.  Judging will commence  September  15 to September 30th, with winners posted on SAHR website on October 1st, along with photos of all entries in the classes.

17.Championship and Reserve Championship ribbons to be awarded to first and second places in the Jackpot Futurity, with placings to extend to sixth place.

18.Five percent of the money collected from the Jackpot Futurity will be paid out to the owner of the stallion whose foal wins its class.  Ten percent will to go the SAHR for Futurity Expenses. The remaining 85% will be awarded to the number of entries, and payable to six places.  Interest accumulated from the date of the auction until distribution following the Jackpot Futurity will become part of the purse.

19.Futurity payback checks are mailed to the recipients after the completion of the show.
20. In the event a check is returned to the bank for any reason, a $30.00 fine will be assessed.
